One of the most common queries we receive at Mesh Direct is about the sizing of mesh banner fencing. When it comes to your construction site, there are so many elements to consider, and so it’s understandable that not everyone can be an expert on temporary fencing and signage. Which is why we’ve put together this quick and easy guide for you.
We want to demystify everything about mesh banner fencing and how to choose the right size, so let’s dive in…
People often make the assumption that because the standard temporary fence is 1.8 metres high, that their mesh banner should be the same size. They believe that the more mesh, the better the coverage.
However, this isn’t actually correct.
With the extra material, the mesh appears too baggy which will compromise the look of your branding, which contradicts the purpose of the banner mesh in the first place. It also means that your mesh banner fencing is at greater risk of tearing. You want your business and brand to be represented well. So it’s important that your mesh banner fencing looks its absolute best.
For mesh banner fencing, we always recommend a height of 1.6 metres, which allows the installer greater space to pull the mesh tight and taut, which showcases your artwork and branding far more effectively.
It’s crucial that you order the right sizing for your mesh, the extra coverage will not do you any favours.
Ordering the right size for your mesh fence banner is just one factor of many when it comes to making the most of branded signage. To make sure you make the right choices for your business and goal, be sure to talk to one of our signage experts first.

With over a decade’s experience in the grand format printing industry, we like to think we know a thing or two about banner mesh. In today’s blog post, we want to delve deep into how to avoid the common pitfalls and how to maximise your results when buying and installing our products.
We’ve talked to our banner mesh experts and best installers to bring you these common pitfalls and their solutions…
One of the most common issues that we see when people are ordering banner mesh is that they order the wrong size for their fence. Most people assume that because their temporary fencing is 1.8 metres high, that the size of the mesh should be the same.
This is incorrect. When people choose 1.8m height for their banner mesh, it means that the mesh can look too baggy. It can rip more easily and generally compromises the overall look of your artwork and fencing.
We recommend 1.6 metre banner mesh. This gives you the space to pull the mesh taut and tight, which shows off your artwork, and generally looks a lot cleaner and more professional.
Another common pitfall we see is people choosing not to use every eyelet on their banner mesh. This is practically asking for a bad install or for a shorter mesh life span.
The eyelets are spaced every 500mm on the top, and every metre on the bottom, and guess what? There’s a reason for this. If these aren’t used as directed, your banner mesh can sag or look like it wasn’t installed properly.
To get the best possible results be sure to use a cable tie for every eyelet.
Finally, another pitfall that frequents the grand format print industry is clients not following the advice of experts. We’ve had years of experience in printing on a large scale, and so we know what works with artwork, installs and the benefits of each product.
For example, if you have a highly detailed artwork that showcases a new property, we’ll suggest going with premium banner mesh. If you’re on a budget or you only need mesh for a one-off project, we might suggest standard banner mesh or shadecloth.
These recommendations are for a reason, and they’re always with the best interests of your business at heart. We want you and your business to succeed, so we make recommendations customised to your business and your goals.

As leaders in the mesh printing industry, we’ve got a lot of knowledge to share with our clients about the various benefits and need-to-know information when it comes to using banner mesh. Whether you’re in the construction industry, development or events and festivals, you’ll need to consider a number of factors before you commission your mesh printing job.

You’d be surprised at how many people don’t consider the elements when commissioning mesh banners for their sites. Wind flow is a massive factor to keep in mind when discussing your mesh printing options with your representative.
Selecting the wrong type of mesh for the conditions of your site can mean that your signage and temporary fencing won’t last the distance. For high wind areas, you’ll need what’s called wind mesh. This mesh is specially created for areas that experience a high wind load, and is made with larger perforation than that of standard and premium mesh.
This means that the wind passes through the mesh easily, and doesn’t interfere with the temporary fencing or presentation of the signage.
Here at Mesh Direct, we offer a number of types of mesh material for your mesh printing needs: shade cloth, wind mesh, standard banner mesh, and premium banner mesh.
We offer these varieties so our clients have a broad spectrum of choices when it comes to their specific purposes and their budgets. We work closely with them, and talk them through the material options so that their banner mesh printing job yields the best possible results.
People usually assume that with great fence signage, comes great difficulty with install. That couldn’t be further from the truth when it comes to our mesh banner products. All of our mesh fencing and mesh panels are designed with ease of install in mind. Most of our banner mesh can be installed using a simple process of cable ties and metal eyelets, which are spaced evenly over the top and bottom of the sign.
If you’d rather have a professional installer, we can arrange that for you as well.

If there’s one thing we’re incredibly passionate about here at Mesh Direct, it’s branded banners and helping clients build their construction business. Using branded banners is a fantastic way of cementing your business’s reputation in high regard, as well as increasing your brand awareness with potential new clients.
People often underestimate the versatility and benefits of branded banner, but here’s how you can optimise your company’s reach using these simple and affordable products.
No matter what type of branded banner material you choose (premium banner mesh, standard banner mesh, wind mesh or shade cloth, to name a few), it’s vital that your artwork looks professional.
For those of you who have an in-house designer, be sure that your logo and company colours are high resolution and crisp, and that the dimensions of the artwork are to the material’s specifications.
If artwork is not your strong suit, we highly suggest you take advantage of our in-house design services, so you can be sure that your branded banner mesh does your construction business justice. There’s no point in using branded banner mesh if you don’t represent your brand well through the artwork the banner features.
If you’ve got a development or construction site that features temporary fencing along a heavily trafficked road, this is a great place to feature your branded banner.
These areas are great for exposing your brand and message to a new audience, as well as creating some familiarity with your brand among the general public.
Statistics show that it takes numerous encounters with a brand’s message for the average consumer to start trusting the business. Branded banners are a great way of getting eyes on your company and the incredible work you do.
One common mistake we see made time and time again when it comes to banner mesh designs is the lack of company details included in the artwork. At the very least, you need to include your company website, so that any interested parties who have seen your signage know how to get in touch.
All too often the benefits of using branded banners are lost due to silly mistakes like missing details. Where possible, be sure to include a website and phone number at the very least, in addition to your company logo and colour scheme.

In the midst of the digital age, an advertising medium that’s often overlooked and under-utilised is signage. Printed signage is a fantastic way to create brand recognition and awareness, particularly when it comes to events. Don’t underestimate the advantage of using big, bold and bright artwork on signage to expose foot and car traffic to your festival, event and/or message.
Mesh Direct have supplied numerous event advertising to some of Australia’s biggest festivals and organisations, and are considered experts in the field. We understand that often, events are run on strict budgets and organisers can find it difficult to give the event the marketing attention it deserves. Here at Mesh Direct, we have plenty of budget-friendly solutions when it comes to advertising through printed signage. Here are some of our most popular options…
At events and festivals, crowd control barriers are already a must-have. They’re a necessity when it comes to organisation, safety and creating an orderly system for queuing, so why not utilise these existing canvases to showcase your event branding and advertising?
We use dye sublimation printing to actually dye the design into the mesh of the barriers which results in fantastic colour representation and crystal clear prints. We’re passionate about representing you, your brand and your event well, so we use only the best in printing technology.
One of the great things about crowd control barriers is how affordable they are. Give our team a call to learn what options suit your needs best (1300 368 978).
Another budget-friendly solution is printed banner mesh. This can be attached to temporary fencing and promote your event while your construction/event site is still in progress. We have a range of affordable options here including premium banner mesh, standard banner mesh, shade cloth and wind mesh.
Our printed shade cloth is an ideal branding and advertising solution for festival organisers, and it one of our most popular products. It’s commonly used on barrier fencing, particularly on long runs where a high resolution result is not necessary. Shade cloth is our entry level branded fencing and is sold in rolls of 50m. Also referred to as scrim, fence fabric, scaffold mesh or fence mesh it is a durable material which can be reused, making it perfect for regular/seasonal festivals.
Corflute is one of the most common forms of signage you’ll see around festivals events. It’s also referred to as corrugated plastic signage or corriboard and is a rigid, flat substrate which is highly versatile, can be applied virtually anywhere and is easy to install on any structure including walls, fences and hoarding.
You’ll likely see it in the form of security signs, safety signs, menus, prices, and dress code signs among other things. The corflute sign option provides a magnificent reproduction of your artwork for a budget price, rather than using vinyl lettering we print directly on the corflute signage substrate to achieve this magnificent result.
It can also be seen in real estate signage, the building industry and for major use in election campaigns. Durability isn’t an issue as corflute signs can be reused time and time again, making it ideal for seasonal events and festivals. Often seen in the outside environment being nailed to electricity poles, the corriboard signage option is one that is built to withstand the elements.
At Mesh Direct we are very flexible and are more than willing to customise your corflute signs according to all your needs. Our corflute signage is fully UV stabilised and with the proper care can be used for years. We use the highest quality inks available and our corflute signage is printed directly onto substrate on 3mm or 5mm thick bases.
Each of these printed signage forms are a great way to advertise your event or festival at an affordable price. If you’re interested to find out more about advertising through printed signage, give us a call on 1300 368 978.
Here at Mesh Direct, we’re always looking for ways to reinvent the wheel when it comes to construction and development sites, and one product we’re incredibly proud of is our building wraps. Building wraps were originally more common in Europe, where at world-renowned tourist attractions, buildings needed repairs and maintenance but the local governments didn’t want to lose the tourism revenue. From Switzerland and Paris to Florence and London, using a building wrap became the solution that many organisations came to rely on.
This meant that things like scaffolding, equipment and unsightly construction sites were not such an eyesore in areas so heavily populated by tourists (and their cameras!). While construction and renovation work is often necessary, it’s not necessary that the building’s aesthetic suffers in the process.
A building wrap is essentially a large-scale canvas that acts as a ‘skin’ around the structure of a building. Whatever the look of the building’s facade, one of the massive benefits of using building wraps is they leave a truly memorable and magnificent impression on anyone who lays eyes on them.
Mesh Direct’s building wraps can be customised for each job, and can feature any artwork required. Some organisations (like in the tourism industry for example) opt to replicate the building’s structure on the wrap, so that at first glance, the building looks completely in tact. Other companies choose to add more colour to their skylines by featuring nature scenes – forests, flowers and animals to pique the interest of passersby.
Another popular option is to showcase advertising. Often construction and development sites are a missed opportunity to gain exposure for your business and services. Usually the structures where building wraps are utilised are in high traffic areas, which means there are plenty of people passing by to advertise to.
We’ve provided some big name brands with building wraps and development signage over the years, and pride ourselves on the outstanding quality of our products. Our building wraps boast sharp, effective print reproduction, making them ideal for use on high-rise buildings and developments. We’ve also got an in-house design team who have a real knack for creating impressive graphics for large scale signage in case you wanted assistance with creating your featured artwork.
Whatever your vision for your building wrap, Mesh Direct can bring your idea to life. We have the experience, the expertise and the equipment to take your dream from concept to reality. We’re able to offer a large range of options to our clients from direct to facade, applied to scaffolding or hoarding, temporary framing or a more permanent system. Mesh Direct can even wrap enormous windows or apply cut out vinyls, it’s completely up to you as our client.
For more information on how building wraps can work for your business or new development, be sure to contact Mesh Direct on 1300 368 978.
Mesh Direct was approached by Meriton to assist them with a large scale development and building wrap. Founded in 1963, Meriton is now Australia’s biggest residential apartment developer.
More than 70,000 apartments have been developed, designed and built by Meriton across Australia’s east coast. Additionally, Meriton is responsible for some of the highest residential towers in the Gold Coast, Sydney and Brisbane.
Naturally, Meriton has an impressive portfolio and offers sales and leasing, as well as property and strata management services. Meriton’s luxury accommodation brand Meriton Serviced Apartments spans across more than thirteen locations country-wide.
When Meriton began to develop their latest large scale construction site, they came to Mesh Direct for solutions to their scaffolding and high-rise development needs.
After much communication with the established brand, Mesh Direct provided the organisation with premium banner mesh in the form of north and south facing banners across the development.
Mesh Direct organised the design and printing of the large-scale banners for the high rise building and scaffolding. The building wrap was created and then transported to the construction site.
We had to use Ropetek and abseiling techniques in order to install the massive banners.
During the installation process, challenges arose due to the significant winds plaguing Parramatta at the time. While premium banner mesh offers great wind durability, the conditions were extreme and Mesh Direct worked extra diligently to provide Meriton with solutions to these unforeseen issues and challenges.
The result of this project was an impressive building wrap that withstood both the test of time and the blustering conditions of the high velocity winds.
Mesh Direct has maintained an ongoing relationship with the Meriton brand, and have since been commissioned to provide banner mesh for another large scale development.
