As part of our Meet the Team series, we’re catching up with Graphic Designer Izzy Crerar to learn more about her creative background, what inspires her, and life outside of the design studio.

Izzy, can you tell us a bit about your background and what led you to this role at Mesh Direct?

Izzy Crerar: I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Communication Design, majoring in Graphic Design and Illustration, from the University of Newcastle. Before joining Mesh Direct, I gained experience through freelance projects, assisting with graphic design and product photography, and interning with a creative agency. I’ve worked across a range of creative disciplines including publication design, UX/UI, branding, photography, film and illustration—so I was excited by the chance to bring that skill set to a fast-paced, design-led business like Mesh Direct.

What aspects of working at Mesh Direct have you enjoyed the most so far?

Izzy Crerar: Seeing my designs come to life on such a large scale has been a really rewarding shift from my previous work in the digital space. It’s great to contribute to projects where design has such a visible impact.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Izzy Crerar: I’m usually spending time with friends—cafe hopping, reading, or playing video games. I love a good mix of being out and about and then switching off for some downtime.

Any local favourites when it comes to restaurants or bars?

Izzy Crerar: Definitely! Goldbergs Coffee House in Newcastle is one of my regular spots—it has a cosy, nostalgic feel and a great all-day menu. I also really like Dark Arts Café & Bar in Coffs Harbour—it has a gothic vibe and is perfect for relaxed catchups. And Ginger Megs in Newcastle is another favourite—amazing Asian fusion dishes and a great atmosphere for group dinners.

We hear you have two rabbits—can you tell us a bit about them?

Izzy Crerar: I do! Devon and Pickle—they’re full of personality. One funny moment was when Devon scraped his paw on a brick while digging. He started limping dramatically whenever we were watching, but the second he thought no one was looking, he was sprinting around the backyard without a care. He definitely knows how to work an audience.

We’re glad to have you on the team, Izzy.

Izzy Crerar: Thanks! It’s great to be part of it.
