The team at Mesh Direct are proud to have been part of an exciting project with LEGO to create event signage. Read more about it in this case study.
LEGO was to hold an exciting event at one of the Westfield Shopping Centres in Sydney to celebrate 20 years of LEGO Star Wars. Art vs Commerce, an experiential and exhibition design company were commissioned by LEGO to help them create an impressive and memorable event for LEGO lovers. They had been tasked to create a giant box to create the world’s largest LEGO box unwrapping.
It was at this point that Art vs Commerce came to Mesh Direct to help them create the ‘wrapping paper’ for the enormous box. To create a giant present, which could be unwrapped by children attending the event.
The material used to create the wrapping paper needed to be thin enough to be ripped open by children at the event. However, it also had to be heavy and strong enough for strips of the material to adhere to each other without being damaged beforehand.
Additionally, the material needed to be thick enough to block out the black branding underneath.
Mesh Direct had to think outside the box for this one. Our solution was a specially designed and adhered paper print. We ensured a material which suited the requirements of being rip-able but strong enough. Not forgetting the huge custom build red fabric bow for the final touch.
83,422 bricks, 210 hours of design and build and a lot of wrapping paper later was a hugely successful event. You can watch the video from the day on LEGO’s Facebook page by clicking here.
