The Project
In 2023, the Penrith Beach Project launched as a development initiative to create an artificial beach along the Nepean River in Penrith, New South Wales. The primary purpose of the project was to provide a recreational and leisure destination for locals and tourists, offering facilities for swimming, sunbathing, and other water-based activities, enhancing the area’s appeal.
Mesh Direct was commissioned to provide a fast and effective solution to cover a vast area of over 1,000 meters for the event opening of Penrith Beach. The solution needed to be durable enough to withstand open areas, high wind conditions and the generally harsh conditions that the Australian climate can present.
The Solution
We recommended our new PolyShade product for the project. PolyShade was the perfect choice for several reasons including:
- It is an ideal alternative to traditional Shade Cloth for a higher definition and quality print, meaning the custom print really popped.
- The lightweight nature of the material makes it ideal for large-scale applications like this one.
- It’s built to withstand the elements including wind, and printed with UV-stabilised inks to resist the harsh Australian conditions.
- It’s also the perfect budget-friendly solution which allowed this project to stay on track and within budget.
The Mesh Direct team swiftly installed the 1,000 meters of Polyshade around the designated area. The installation process was efficient, ensuring the banners were securely in place and visually pleasing.
The Result
The final result was a success, with the client expressing satisfaction with both the quality and appearance of the PolyShade Mesh. The product perfectly covered the required area, withstanding the environmental conditions and contributing to the successful launch of the Penrith Beach Project. The custom print brought the site to life and helped to build excitement about the completed beach area.
With almost 200,000 people visiting the beach by early March 2024, the NSW Government announced it would extend operating hours beyond the original March closure date. That’s a big win for everyone!
